It’s been a summer of several seasons and hopefully we may even see some extra sunshine through the early autumn.
We have been very busy and are delighted to let you know that we are expanding the business and moving to Yelverton Business Park in Crapstone. The new offices give us much more space together with level access and easy parking. Please do pop by and say “hello” as we would love to see both past, existing and new clients too!
We are also very happy to be able to share a wonderful story of success for one of our new clients to our service. As many of you are aware, we act as Professional Attorneys for a number of our clients. Acting as an attorney is an incredibly onerous responsibility and one which requires both experience and knowledge. On this occasion we were contacted after the existing attorney sadly died leaving our client without support. Fortunately, the client retained capacity, so she was able to appoint Anne as both her Financial and Health & Welfare attorney.
Our client had very tragically suffered a stroke just prior to lockdown. The stroke affected her mobility so much so she was told she would never walk again.
Not one to be phased by such news, Anne sprang into action – establishing contact within her network of fellow professionals. There was a considerable amount of work to do – setting up and accessing financial investments and accounts, instructing a financial advisor, liaising with the care home staff and critically commissioning a physiotherapist. In between sight, hearing and dental appointments we gradually worked together with our client to bring about new horizons and opportunities to optimise her quality of life.
When asking our client what her dearest wish would be, her response was, ‘I want to walk again’. Anne is the epitome of positivity and never says never, so with the ingenuity of her contacts and amazing physiotherapist input, after 4 months our client is now back on her feet – with small steps and huge encouragement, not to mention our client’s own tenacity and determination! It is a joy to behold. Yes, we still have a way to go, but as Anne always says ‘everything is possible, it just may take some lateral thinking.’
Not only is our client well on the road to becoming independent again, but Anne has arranged one of our staff to visit each week to assist her to write her life story, in between learning to use an iPad, mastering digital hearing aids and Bluetooth link up with her audible books – indeed everything is possible!
As we enter Autumn and before the busyness of the festive season ensues, it is a time to evaluate where we are in our lives and possibly to complete those tasks of making sure our affairs are in order. We look forward to welcoming you to pop in and chat through how we may be able to help you and your loved ones.
